Star trek resurgence ship12/10/2023 ![]() We can’t wait for captains to experience it. Justin Laird, Producer of Cryptic Studios’ long running and acclaimed Star Trek MMORPG, Star Trek Online, shared how special this partnership is for Cryptic Studios, saying, “The entire Star Trek Online team is thrilled to partner with Dramatic Labs and have the incredible opportunity to bring the Star Trek: Resurgence hero ship, the U.S.S. ![]() IDW’s comic series weaves an incredible story that seamlessly leads into our game, and seeing the Resolute in action in Star Trek Online is simply mind-blowing!” That’s why we’re absolutely thrilled to partner with Cryptic Studios and IDW Publishing to offer this incredible digital pack with our retail release. Kevin Bruner, the founder and CEO of Dramatic Labs, expressed his excitement, saying, “There’s nothing quite like donning your away-team uniform and embarking on an adventure with friends. The Resolute, a Centaur-class refit born during the Dominion War, serves as a science vessel on the frontier of Federation space.Īs any seasoned Star Trek fan knows, the ship is at the core of every extraordinary adventure, whether making meaningful decisions in Star Trek: Resurgence or embarking on exciting quests in Star Trek Online. Resolute, the hero ship of Star Trek: Resurgence! Star Trek Online captains can get this beloved starship for free in Star Trek Online from October 12 to November 30. TV Star Trek may no longer feel like the '90s Trek I loved, but Resurgence is doing its best to warp headfirst into that void.Code one unlocks Star Trek Online’s ‘Federation Elite Starter Pack’ for consoles, a pack that will prepare a new Federation Captain to begin their adventures in Star Trek Online, while code two allows a download of the first issue of the Star Trek: Resurgence comic book series, a prequel to the story told in the game.įurthermore, players of Star Trek Online will soon leave Space Dock in the captain’s chair of the U.S.S. I can look past some goofy moments if the rest of Resurgence is as promising as it seems, though-even The Next Generation open palm slammed the silliness button every few episodes. But the developers said the animation is close to where they want it to be, so I'm not expecting a dramatic transformation between now and release later this year. Resurgence isn't finished, of course, and there's time left to smooth out the most noticeable flaws. These flaws stand out more in a realistic game than in the comic book style Telltale used for so many years. Likewise, the walking animations have an awkwardness to them that feels mismatched with the fidelity Resurgence is shooting for. The facial animations aren't bad, but have a robotic quality you don't see in today's luxuriously motion captured games-they remind me of the first couple Mass Effects, now well over a decade old. ![]() ![]() Dramatic Labs is using Unreal Engine and opted for a realistic art style that stumbles into the uncanny valley. Though Resurgence's tone is exactly what I want out of Star Trek, I'm worried the developers aren't going to have quite the time or budget they deserve here. I'm curious to see whether the entire thing is focused around the diplomatic mission the demo introduced, or if it'll combine multiple storylines. I hope there's more opportunity to explore the ship in the full game, which sounds like it'll be bigger than I expected: Resurgence will roughly be the length of a full Telltale game season, which the devs equated to a Trek miniseries in length. The developers told me that the full game will have some actiony bits to break up the conversations, but in the demo I didn't do much more than walk a few feet and click on bits of the environment to get a little color commentary.
